Art Thompson

First Nations, Nuu-chah-nulth, Ditidaht, 1948 - 2003

Art Thompson trained in Commercial Art at Camosan College, but it was his study and revitalization of traditional Nuu-chah-nulth style that became the hallmark of his art. Drawing upon a traditional graphic mode seen in painted sculpture, Thompson unites curvilinear forms with hard-edge geometric forms in the rendering of the humble barnacle here.
