Tim Paul

First Nations, Nuu-chah-nulth, Hesquiat, born 1950

The arrival of geese to Hesquiaht territory on the west coast of Vancouver Island is annually noted by Paul’s family. His grandmother was from Esperanza Inlet where the geese were welcomed and protected. Carved by glaciers during the last ice age, Esperanza Inlet has been home to First Nations People for millennia and is rich in birds and sea life.
