Full Moon Egret, pair

1987

Robert Sebastian

First Nations, Gitxsan, born 1952

Robert Sebastian participates in the cultural activities of his people, including fishing on the many rivers of his traditional homeland in northern British Columbia. Many of his prints reveal his keen observation of a variety of birds, such as the egrets here illuminated by a full moon. Many of these winged creatures figure prominently in oral traditions and underscore the deep connection between the people, the animals, and the spirits of the land and waters.
