The 2004 Tsunami in Sri Lanka
2005
Painting in the Mithila style of art, an Indigenous art form from India, Amrita Das captures the devastating moment when the Indian Ocean earthquake in 2004 (off Northern Sumatra) caused a devastating tsunami in Sri Lanka. The rolling waves sweep up trees, livestock, and individuals. In the middle, a dense crowd will soon be engulfed by the crashing waves of water.
