first half 19th century

Cobalt-blue underglaze porcelain was first produced in Korea in the mid-15th century and is noted for its generally soft tone and simplicity of design. By the 19th century, the influence of Chinese Qing ware led to more elaborate designs, such as this motif of mythical bird and clouds, symbols of good fortune and high rank.
