Siva with attendants
11th-12th century
The Hindu god Siva stands upon his vehicle, Nandi, and is surrounded by attendants. The strict symmetry, forward-facing pose and structured hierarchy give the sculpture an architectural quality. Siva's niche is flanked by kneeling elephants and mythological creatures called sardulas. Brahma and Vishnu are found in the upper left and right corners. At the very top is a small seated figure of Siva.
