"Horse eye" plate

Yanagi traced many of the same characteristics of Joseon-dynasty ceramics in the Japanese ceramic traditions. This Seto-ware piece is a good example. It was made by hand, functional, and intended for daily use by non-elites—all key criteria of Yanagi’s Mingei theory.
