Tankard

Dateca. 1685
Maker Jeremiah Dummer American, 1645 - 1718
Label TextThis three-quart tankard ranks among the rarest objects in American silverwork because of its impressive size and unusual decoration. The chased, fanciful floral and bird design on the tankard was inspired by the popular flowering-tree motif of Chinese silks and Indian chintz fabrics.
