Ewer

Dateca. 1825
Label TextFollowing the War of 1812-14, many American silversmiths turned away from English design inspiration and created adaptations of French imperialistic art (patterns originally based on Greek and Roman antiquity), which had been popularized by Napoleon Bonaparte's empire (1804-15). This later classical style inspired the ewer's form and motifs.
