Label TextThe lid of this richly decorated box for writing utensils depicts a courtier crossing a bridge toward a residence where a woman sits waiting. Outside in the springtime garden, a stream flows among blossoming cherry trees, a pine tree, and young pine seedlings. The underside of the lid shows two rabbits playing amid blooming bush clover and pinks. Autumn flowers also decorate the base of the box, which holds an inkstone and flower-shaped water dropper.
