Plate
ca. 1741-43
The design for this plate is attributed to Johann Friederich Eberlein (1695–1749). By the 1740s, Meissen table services were in great demand among the European aristocracy. This plate is from a service delivered between 1741 and 1743 to Russian Tsarina Elizabeth I Petrovna (r. 1741–1761), called the Elizabeth I of Russia Service. Elizabeth became a collector of Meissen porcelain, and around 1744 she established her own imperial manufactory in St. Petersburg.
