Lined over-robe

Date19th century
Label TextThis robe’s exterior has a supplementary weft, which is a kind of weave executed in Okinawa. The lining fabric was dyed with an Okinawa bingata stencil that can be dated to the 19th century, suggesting that the interior fabric is older than that of the exterior.
