Born Charles Thomas Close.
Moved to Tacoma
1953 After his father died, moved to Everett.
Attended Everett Junior College and the University of Washington.
1962 Attended Yale Graduate School of Art and Architecture. Painted abstract paintings.
Earned Master of Fine Arts degree
1965 Taught painting at the University of Massachusetts.
1966 Painted female nude from black and white photo.
Married Leslie Rose.
1967 Moved to New York. Taught at the School for Visual Arts.
1988 Stricken with a collapsed spinal artery that left him almost completely paralyzed.
