We-Gontha, or Henry Green, is a Coastal Tsimshian Native of the Eagle Clan. He was
born in 1956 and grew up around Port Simpson, a small fishing village in Northwestern
British Columbia. He started carving in 1976 and is active in the preservation of his
culture and has developed training programs for emerging artists.
Seattle Art Museum respectfully acknowledges that we are on Indigenous land, the traditional territories of the Coast Salish people. We honor our ongoing connection to these communities past, present, and future.
