Frank Asakichi KunishigeAmerican, born Japan 1878-1960

Born in Agenosho, Oshima-gun, Yamaguchi-ken, Japan, he emigrated to the U.S. arriving in San Francisco in 1896. Kunishige attended a photography school in Chicago in 1911, opening a studio in San Francisco around 1912. He moved to Seattle and worked initially in the studio of Edward Curtis and from 1917 in the studio of Ella McBride (1862-1965) throughout the 1920's in addition to freelancing.
