Francis DickFirst Nations, Kwakwaka'wakw, Dzwada'enuxw, born 1959

Born in 1959 in King come Inlet as a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation. She

is a descendant of the supernatural Wolf, Kawadelekala and much of her work

contains images of the Wolf, acknowledging her contemporary ties to her cultural

past. Francis says her work is about honoring her life process and her work is not

a career but it is her way of life. Her primary works are paintings, prints and

singing but she also works with gold, silver and occasionally wood. She has

worked with her cousin Beau Dick, Bruce Alfred and Fah Ambers. In 1994 she

was honored to be initiated into the highest society in her nation, the Hamat'sa.

She works in Victoria.
