Maker Park Young-sook Korean, born 1947
Label TextOn this bowl, Park Young-sook revives one of the typical forms of Choson ritual ceramics -- a vessel with notched flanges and a high foot. A balanced shape and smooth surface in the desirable snowy-white color are prominent characteristics of this artist's work. Since originating from early Chinese bronze examples, Choson ritual vessels have featured decorative elements reminiscent of ancient bronzes.
