Covered bowl

Date10th - 12th century

Label TextPeony blossoms are boldly carved on the sides and top of this covered bowl. The transparent olive green glaze, which characterizes Yaozhou ware as the northern celadon, has pooled in the recessed areas and pulled away from the areas in relief. The contrast lends depth to the surface decoration.
