Dish with the eight auspicious Buddhist symbols

Datelate 15th century
Label TextChenghua porcelain has long been the focus of collectors and connoisseurs. The eight auspicious Buddhist symbols embellish this superb example of late 15th-century blue-and-white porcelain, reflecting the Chenghua emperor's preoccupation with Buddhism. The Wheel of the Law in the center is surrounded by the conch shell, canopy, umbrella, lotus flower, fish, vase, and endless knot.
